The Quest for God – by Marilyn Ehle

“You’ll search me and discover me if you search me with all of your coronary heart.” Jeremiah 29:13

In his guide, Misplaced in Marvel, Dr. S T Kimbrough Jr. writes about poet, hymn author and theologian Charles Wesley’s decided quest “to know the heights and depths of God’s love“. Wesley’s phrases in a poem from the 1740’s reveal his coronary heart:

Wrestling, I cannot let Thee go,
Until I Thy identify, Thy nature know.”

Kimbrough says, “We grasp for the Unknown, and we maintain quick to that which we can not see.” Within the midst of our greedy, we are able to make sure that as fervently as we search God, He seeks us ever extra. And God guarantees that our quest might be fulfilled after we search Him with all our coronary heart.

God invitations our looking for and guarantees that such a search won’t ever be in useless. Jesus stated, “Whoever involves me won’t ever go hungry, and whoever believes in me won’t ever be thirsty.” (John 6:35)  It’s time to show to the God who’s ever turning to me, lastly acknowledging that solely He can fill the void in my coronary heart.

Thanks, God, for by no means tiring of my search, all the time extending your hand of affection. Give me grace to succeed in out settle for all you’ve got performed for me.
