Do you know that Jesus despatched letters from heaven?
I think 90% of individuals have no idea, and lots of of those that do know dismiss them as irrelevant.
“The seven letters to the Revelation church buildings should not for me.”
That’s not true. The letters from Jesus have been despatched to the first-century church buildings of Asia, however they’re timeless. They include messages for all of us.
Dismiss the seven letters and also you may as properly dismiss the entire Bible.
The seven letters to the church buildings
Within the seven letters, the Son of God dispenses life-giving phrases to:
- the weary and worn out (Ephesus)
- these dwelling within the shadow of loss of life (Smyrna)
- victims of bullying and people going through questions of conscience (Pergamum)
- the misguided who mishandle grace (Thyatira)
- these anxious about their everlasting safety (Sardis)
- the powerless who assume they don’t have anything to supply (Philadelphia), and
- those that are confused over the steadiness between legislation and beauty (Laodicea)
The letters from Jesus are brief however deep. In them we discover solutions to twenty first century questions, similar to: What does God anticipate from me? Does he care that I’m bone drained? Is he offended at my fears and failings? How do I do know what the Spirit is saying? How do I overcome life’s trials? How can I face loss of life with out concern? What makes me worthy to stroll with the Lord? Am I lukewarm? Does God punish me once I sin? If I stumble, will Jesus erase my title from his e book? What if I deny him in a second of weak spot?
You’ve obtained mail – from Jesus!
These “letters to angels” or messengers weren’t solely for people. Every letter ends with the phrase, “Hear what the Spirit says to the church buildings.”
Jesus is chatting with individuals, not pastors. In actual fact, Jesus is chatting with all the church buildings (see Rev. 2:23), and never simply the seven church buildings of Asia.
These letters are for for the Church, that means the entire physique of Christ. They have been written for you and me and your pastor and the organ girl and everybody who must know the love of the Lord.
It’s a mistake to assume that the Laodiceans have been the one lukewarm individuals in historical past or that wandering out of your old flame was a uniquely Ephesian drawback. All of us want to listen to what the Spirit is saying by these letters from Jesus.
In his closing letter Jesus says, “If anybody hears my voice and opens the door, I’ll are available in” (Rev. 3:20). It is a common invitation. It’s for each one in all us.
The letters from Jesus are for all of us, good or unhealthy, saved or unsaved, contained in the church or out. Nobody is excluded from this heavenly correspondence.
The letters from Jesus communicate to us at a number of ranges. They handle private points and common ones. They unveil God’s unchanging functions for humanity, and so they reveal your home in his everlasting dream.
All of us want to listen to the gospel within the seven letters.
